The Pretty One Speaks…

Written by JB Williams

The DNC Convention struck a fever pitch last night as expected when the pretty one took the stage. In classic John Edwards (successful trial lawyer) form, his delivery was near flawless. But what did he say?

First, he made sure to hammer home what appears to be the central topic of this years DNC Convention. John Kerry served in Vietnam, he put his life on the line for four months, he was awarded three purple hearts, a bronze star and a silver star in that four month period thirty years ago, and that alone qualifies him to be Commander-in-Chief.

Edwards left out the details, but since this is clearly the primary talking point of the entire Convention, I thought you should have the details in case you somehow missed them the other thousand times you’ve heard them.

Then, he spoke about how tired Democrats are of all the negative campaign attacks. I assume he was not talking about those attacks calling Bush a “liar”, or a “deserter”, or a “betrayer of his country”, or a “dumb cowboy”. I imagine he was talking about those nasty attacks against his and Kerry’s public voting records, or how Kerry supported his fellow soldiers once safe back home, free to malign his band of brothers still on the battlefield.

Then he reminded us all of the story of John Edwards, who grew up poor in North Carolina in a home where both parents worked, where he himself had to work his way through college since his parents couldn’t afford to send him. How he was the first in his family to ever graduate college, and how he went on to become a successful trial lawyer, even a millionaire, a real life rags to riches story, the kind American Dreams are made of.

I personally love this story, because both John Edwards and John Kerry are living proof even though their campaign rhetoric is contrary, that the American Dream is still alive and well in America, and available to all. Edwards seems to have worked hard and smart, achieving things in his words, “beyond his wildest dreams”, despite his poor beginnings. John Kerry, who came from the other side of the tracks, a somewhat privileged youth, I’m sure achieved things beyond his wildest dreams too. Most men can’t marry big money once, let alone twice, proving once again, where there’s a will, there’s a way.

He spoke about how he got rich suing those terrible HMO’s, those HMO’s Teddy Kennedy and the DNC designed and insisted on passing into law not long ago. He dusted off his mantra from the primaries he lost, about two America’s, those who have found the key and unlocked the American economic Dream for themselves, and those who have come to expect the federal government to unlock it for them.

He rattled off a list of how he and John Kerry plan to unlock the floodgates of American economic freedom for all those who have not yet unlocked it themselves, by increasing taxes on 2% of all Americans, those already saddled with paying over 40% of all taxes collected by the federal government, handing it to those less privileged, only asking your vote in return.

He talked about $1000. per child tax credit for child care, if you pay for child care, and a $4000. per year per child tax credit for college tuition, if your kids can read enough to graduate high school, and if you pay any taxes to begin with. He talked about folks who work hard for minimum wage, and still live in poverty. They plan to raise minimum wage, even though jobs have been lost, people driven further into poverty, communities destroyed every time the minimum wage has been raised throughout history.

And he talked about how all these plans would create the utopian One America he and John Kerry envision, never once realizing that he is one of those people he is talking about, a small town boy, from near destitute humble beginnings, who accessed the American Dream with no help at all from the Federal government or anyone else, or that anyone else can do the same. He never once acknowledged the fact that it has always been the promise of unrestricted success that has lifted people out of poverty in America, and America to unmatched prosperity in the world, not the promise of penalty for those who work the hardest, the smartest, and sacrifice the most to build their future.

Then he turned to more pressing issues, a military stretched thin and extended tours of duty for our soldiers due to the lack of adequate military personnel and resources needed to meet the threat of terrorism around the globe and in the homeland. And he sent a message out about these things, to Al Qaeda “you can not run, you can not hide, we will destroy you”, words pulled directly from any number of Bush speeches.

To the loved ones of soldiers back home, that “help was on the way”, because John Kerry himself is a decorated war hero who would never leave a fellow soldier behind, completely ignoring (and hoping you will too), that he, John Kerry, and liberals across this nation are directly responsible for our under-manned military, our lack of military resources, and the deficiencies in our intelligence community.

He said “the real test of patriotism is how we treat the men and women who put their lives on the line for us hoping you and I will forget or excuse the fact that both he and John Kerry voted to send our troops into Iraq, and then both voted against funding their mission.

He said he and John Kerry would re-build the military (they once dismantled), secure the homeland, and not take three years doing it, what ever it takes, we’ll do it he said, apparently unaware that much has been done already, and the homeland has thus far been secure since 9/11 as a result. Then he talked about how they would do it without sacrificing our freedoms or liberties like the Bush administration has done, hoping no one noticed that both he and John Kerry voted in favor of passing the Patriot Act so many now find intrusive.

He said we can’t do it alone, we need the help of the UN, and NATO, and all those nice countries that were more concerned with protecting their relationship with Hussein than their partnership with America, like France, Germany and Russia. That he and John Kerry would reunite the world in harmonious support of American interests, or was it they would unite the nation behind what’s in the UN’s best interests?

He said “everything is possible, because this is America”, except for all those things he just told us we can’t do for ourselves, those things only he and John Kerry can do for us. He said “we should never look down on anyone, or control their destiny”, as he looked down, and spoke down to those people not smart enough, or strong enough, or driven enough to rise up from humble beginnings, and grab the brass ring like he and Kerry have. As he carefully laid out the plan, for how they intend to manage the destiny we are unable to manage ourselves.

I had such high expectations for the speech of the pretty one, the charming one, the good one, the one many hoped would elevate the ticket above that place that Kerry can manage on his own. But in the end, I was disappointed, even saddened by the tone and content of the speech.

Many of you who were giddy with delight at John Edwards speech will surely find my assessment offensive, but I defy you to find it inaccurate in any way. Many won’t like it, in fact, many will call me names I’ve never heard of for writing this piece, but they won’t be able to say it isn’t true.

Most of them will toss this aside, knowing that every word is true, because truth is too often the first casualty in any election in America today, and truth is no competition for deep seated ideology, hatred for the opposition, and an opportunity to vote ourselves money from the treasury.

For the record, I believe John Edwards is a good man with good intentions from a good family. But these things describe most Americans, not the qualifications for leading the free world.

It’s a sad day in America, but tomorrow will be a new day, and the day after that another, and one day, America’s light will shine again, once truth again trumps ideology and rhetoric, and the American people once again, know the difference…

Wrong Answer!

Written by JB Williams

The almost 600 page 9/11 Commission Report provides all the answers to all the questions we have been asking since September 12, 2001, just not the answers we were hoping to get. So the same questions keep coming…

Somebody should have paid me a million bucks for the article I wrote back in April, and saved the American tax payer’s the $30 million expense of the 9/11 commission report, since they came to the same conclusions anyone in their right mind could have come to on their own.

Not to denigrate the work of the commission, it appears they have done a magnificent job. But the answers to the main questions were obvious without any investigation at all.

Could 9/11 have been stopped?

Since the commission is standing before us today, (as I stated in my article in April) three years after the events of 9/11, hundreds of millions of dollars in increased intelligence and homeland security spending, months of interrogation and investigation, and two wars later, telling us that we still could not stop it today, what do you think?

Who is to blame for 9/11?

As implied in my article and the commission report, Bin Laden and a whole host of Middle Eastern terrorists for starters. But also, whoever decided that America should be a free country where its citizens roam about freely without government surveillance or interference, and those who intend to keep it that way. That pretty much covers all of us!

Can we stop it now or in the future?

Some times, but not every time. That’s what the report say’s, and anyone with half a mind already knew the answer to this question.

What did Hussein have to do with 9/11?

Best we can prove, nothing. However, meetings [page 66 in the report] did happen in 1998 where both Bin Laden and Hussein extended offers to each other to work together against a common enemy, America, just as the Bush administration said.

What now?

We must share intelligence better [Patriot Act], use more imagination in anticipating threats, so that we can take pre-emptive action to thwart future threats [Iraq], and take the fight to our enemies before they bring it to us in the homeland [Afghanistan & Iraq]. We must do a better job of profiling the enemy, something referred to in America as racial profiling. (Sound familiar?)

Bottom line, the 9/11 Commission Report say’s what most of us already knew.

But that won’t stop my friends from the left from asking the same questions over and over, since they didn’t get the answers they were looking for. If the left knew anything about security at all, they would know that the answers they are looking for do not exist.

Nobody can deliver on the promise to keep America safe in the next week, next month, next year, or next decade. The only reasonable promise is the one that say’s we will do all the above recommendations in some form, as fast as we can, and mainly, kill the threat on its own turf before it has an opportunity to revisit ours.

Not the answer some are searching for, but the truth none the less!

When Voting…

What You Know Matters

Not What You Feel, or Think!

Written by JB Williams

©2004-07-18

If we are going to continue debating America’s future on the basis of voting block “titles”, (ideological brands if you will), then we need to at least know what the “titles” mean, what they represent, and get our arguments in line with reality.

“A political philosophy or attitude emphasizing respect for traditional institutions, distrust of government activism, and opposition to sudden change in the established order. Caution or moderation, as in behavior or outlook.”  This is a universal definition.

“A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans and the autonomy of the individual and favoring civil and political liberties, government by law with the consent of the governed, and protection from arbitrary authority. An economic theory in favor of laissez-faire*, the free market, and the gold standard”. This is today, a separate universal definition.

Not long ago in American history, the combination of these two definitions defined “Americanism”. Today, the combination of these two definitions best describes the entire view of the Republican Party. The first is the universal definition of “Conservatism”, the second, “Liberalism”.

“Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is controlled collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy. The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat** has not yet been successfully achieved”.  This is the universal definition of “Socialism”.

Not long ago in America, people who supported this ideology would have been burned at the stake, or hung in the public square for treason. Today, this definition describes a growing ideological movement in America, an interest in an endless stream of government controlled public benefits. It also defines today’s Democratic Party.

Clearly, America has shifted from a country of 290 million people, all with individual ideas, goals, talents, beliefs, backgrounds, Rights and personal liberties, to a nation described by some as “two America’s”, the “capitalist” America and the “socialist” America. Some envision reducing these two America’s to “one America”. (Others have shared this vision in the past.)

“A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members. A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people”. This is the universal definition of “Communism”.

This definition describes the campaign platform of the modern day Democratic Party. Thus, the Democratic Parties primary support comes from Unions and Union members, “proletariats”. In 2004, the DNC ticket is well funded by a few other interesting sources, namely the Trial Lawyers Association, and Government Employees who obviously favor growth of government, since their jobs depend on it. Other interesting bedfellows support the cause as well, like world renowned billionaire Socialist George Soros, and Hollywood Socialists like Michael Moore.

The mantra of the Kerry/Edwards ticket is their desire to create “one America”. It’s important that American’s who have never experienced socialism or communism first hand understand, that there is but one way to create their one America, and that is to make all American’s equally poor, equally dependent on the government to meet their personal needs.

The 2004 Election matters in this regard more than any other. What you “feel” or “think” can get us all in a lot of trouble.

America’s future depends on what you know and how you respond to what you now know!

*(Laissez-faire; “An economic doctrine that opposes governmental regulation of or interference in commerce beyond the minimum necessary for a free-enterprise system to operate according to its own economic laws. Noninterference in the affairs of others”.)

**(Proletariat; “The class of industrial wage earners who, possessing neither capital nor production means, must earn their living by selling their labor.”)

Communism… Alive and Well?

Written by JB Williams

©2004-07-02

Despite the fall of the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall, Communism is alive and well in the most unlikely places. It’s thriving in the hearts and minds of blind Party loyalists today. Most of them are unaware that blind Party loyalty is the core design of Communism. It’s the means by which people are driven to look past truth, common sense and personal thought, and walk the line of collective thought.

While the media and consequently most Americans, focus their attention on the war against terrorists, (better described as a war on jihad), the doctrine of Marx springs forth from the deeply rooted and fertile ground of anti-Americanism.

I have written on this topic many times, but in this case, I want to bring to your attention some very disturbing trends in America, even more disturbing evidence, and the linkage between true communists and their unsuspecting bedfellows in the Democratic Party.

You first need to understand the basic history and ideology behind communism. In short, it is the union philosophy, collective bargaining practices applied to everyday life, instead of just at the workplace. The idea that all men have the same economic worth, regardless of individual ambition, work habits, contribution, or choices, a Right to the same results, regardless of the differences in their efforts.

These ideas incorporate all inclusive social engineering, whereby all ideas, lifestyles, moral or immoral behaviors have equal merit, equal status, and all doctrines of individualism are set aside in favor of a supposed collective interest.

Like in the workplace, this concept requires a central power for collection and distribution of resources. A power to determine what is fair for all, collect the resources necessary to provide that equality, and distribute it accordingly. In the case of Communism, that central power is the government.

Anyone who has ever worked in a union job can tell you, the result of this form of equality is the unlimited reduction in productivity and resources. People with low ambition and poor work habits are elevated to equal status with those who carry the lion’s share of the load. More productive and ambitious individuals are lowered to equal status of those less productive. Inevitably, the desire for good work habits and personal ambition are eliminated, since unequal efforts will only achieve equal results.

This is the real cause for the fall of communism around the globe. No communist country has ever been able to feed itself long term, ultimately collapsing under the weight of its own lack of productivity which always results in a lack of resources.

This is the reason America was designed to be a society which protects the Rights of the individual over the collective group or groups. (Voting blocks)

But there is a strong movement in America today to replace our forefathers design with a collective bargaining system in which the central federal government collects an increasing amount of private resources, grabs responsibility of deciding everyone’s worth, and provides the government sanctioned benefits demanded by the people, (like heath care).

This my friends is collective bargaining, union mentality, socialism at first, and communism in the end. As you have already seen, the public demand for government services never ends, once it begins. Already, the government controls approximately 43.8% of America’s wealth, and it isn’t enough, they continue to outspend that.

True socialists/communists understand this, so do many politicians who promote these ideas under the guise of Democracy and equality. However, many unsuspecting bedfellows are unaware of what they are supporting. They focus on immediate needs (often with good intentions), and shortcut fix’s of allowing government to solve individual challenges, without considering the long term implications.

Some of the politicians who promote these ideas know exactly what they are promoting, and some are simply unsuspecting bedfellows themselves, pandering to the electorate for votes by the best means available. Either way, they are selling America out for personal power.

It’s important that the American people understand what they are supporting. This link Marxism Headlines & Archives provides an eye opening look into the communist movement in America today, and their connection to the DNC.

This link to Peoples Weekly World , and this one to Communist Party USA , and this one to International Socialist Review will provide the supporting evidence that this movement is in America, it’s well organized, and it is working in concert with the DNC, MoveOn.org, the Kerry campaign and others to unseat a President that threatens everything they believe in. This is the “Anyone but Bush” movement”.

The tactics used to promote communism and socialism have changed dramatically since the days of Stalin. America’s military superpower provided a formidable resistance to the spread of communism around the globe, so new tactics were required.

Today their tactics are more subtle, and in many ways more devious, as they fly (for the most part) below anyone’s radar. Their methods have been adjusted to win the hearts and minds of the people, who would then demand an ever increasing socialist government responsible for caring for its people’s daily needs.

You can clearly align the platform of today’s Democratic Party with that of either the communist or socialist agenda, but most people have never looked and compared. Many of the grassroots workers in the DNC are from the socialist and communist party’s. They realize that you would never knowingly vote for their candidate, so they adopt the next best thing, the DNC candidate, and they push the DNC further and further to the left.

Communists predicted long ago that they would achieve success in America without ever firing a shot. This is what they meant, and they are well on their way to that success.

The upcoming election is about more than the economy, the war on terror, Halliburton, Health Care, or jobs. America is divided right down the middle, 50/50. Half fights to preserve Americanism, free enterprise, individual liberty, and a Right to make what we choose of our own lives and our country. The other half has fallen victim to the drumbeat of Anyone but Bush.

This phrase, though used by many democrats across the country, was coined by the communist movement, as in, (though we can’t get a candidate of the communist party elected, “anyone but Bush” would be a step in the right direction).

The American people need to understand that our nations division is no accident. It was systematically designed, diligently deployed, as a means of eliminating individuals and creating voting blocks instead. Voting blocks that could be manipulated into casting certain votes for narrow reasoning, groups pitted against one another, in order to cause single issue voting, an electorate that could be swayed by policy promises geared towards the ideals of the voting blocks.

The system has been brilliantly employed. So much so, that today, we are more divided and fragmented than ever before in history. No amount of evidence seems to sway people’s opinions either. It’s almost a Jim Jones style grip that this ideology has on people. Most search only for facts that support what they choose to believe.

It’s easy enough to document the agenda of a George Soros, (who is attempting to buy the Whitehouse for John Kerry), and his hatred for America’s world power. It’s easy enough to debunk the rantings and misleading statements of a Michael Moore or a liberal media. But blind Party loyalists won’t hear the message, despite a mountain of evidence. Even conservatives now find themselves cornered into pandering in order to just slow the tide.

This presents the largest threat to America, more so than all the world terrorists combined. Party loyalists need to realize that loyalty to country, honor, truth and American principles are of greater value. Partisans need to understand that it does not matter who gets the credit, as long as the right thing gets accomplished. Who gets the blame won’t matter either, if we don’t turn this trend around. We need to face the fact that our forefathers had it right and that we are about to relive the mistakes of centuries past.

As the saying goes, you have to watch what you wish for, because it might come true!

Are Conservatives Leaving the RNC?

Written by JB Williams

©2004-07-08

No question that many real conservatives are disappointed with the RNC today, many members in Washington are spending like Democrats. But are they upset enough to trade bad for worse?

True conservatives are defined by their core beliefs, smaller government, less pork barrel waste, less government regulation, less litigation, more free market activity, respect for human life and individual Rights, national security and sovereignty, and a more conservative judicial branch.

Even though the current climate in Washington has shifted left, are conservatives really willing to take a giant leap even further to the left out of frustration with the right? I don’t think so.

There are several partisan and non-partisan organizations that track and publish ratings on members of congress and their activities. At the moment, it doesn’t matter which one you look at, the scoring agrees across the board.

It’s true that even Republicans have been on a spending spree lately, but if you look a little closer you will find that the pork barrel spending is happening right where it always has, on the Democrat side of the aisle. No matter which rating organization you read, the answer is the same.

The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, the most respected non-partisan taxpayer watchdog group since 1989 recently issued its findings. Although for the first time since 1994 there were no taxpayer superhero’s with 100% score, (indicating all members of congress were spending more) there were nine members of the House that received honors with a 95% score, (being the most taxpayer friendly) and to no surprise, all of them were Republican.

Also to no surprise, the lowest score award went to Rep. Chaka Fatta (D-PA). Again in the Senate, no perfect scores, the highest score was 88% which was achieved by only five Senators, again, all Republican. The lowest score was 4 percent, shared by Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) and Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.). Apparently those folks in the Dakota’s love pork!

Those with the honor of achieving the lowest scores are defined by their lust for spending taxpayer dollars at nearly every opportunity. One really has to work at getting a single digit rating, it isn’t easy, you have to be present and vote in favor of pretty much every pork barrel bill introduced.

Since the DNC ticket for 2004 includes two US Senators, how did they rank? According to this same group, Sen. John Kerry rated 22% (best possible score being 100%), and Sen. John Edwards rated 13%, earning him this headline in their recent report, John Edwards voting record shows animosity towards taxpayers”.  Liberal watchdog groups rate both Senators even more liberal.

Truth is both Edwards and Kerry were well on track for single digit ratings, had they been present for all the votes. The voting trends of both would have earned them even lower honors had they shown up for work, thank heavens they didn’t. It’s a good thing Edwards is handsome and charming…

While I understand and even share my conservative friend’s frustration with the spending spree in Washington, clearly, it can be worse. However based on solid evidence available at any number of watchdog groups, it’s clear a vote for anyone but Bush/Cheney is a huge step in the wrong direction.

Government growth and waste is the biggest issue to fiscal conservatives, and their choice couldn’t be more obvious, based on the facts.

As for the social issues most conservatives care about, respect for human life and individual freedom and liberty, well, I think these issues are even more obvious.

Are conservatives upset, yes? Should they be, yes? But are they frustrated enough to take a giant leap to the left, no? Conservatives are also defined by their sense of logic and good judgment. If all conservatives vote, this race won’t even be close.
